PITTSBURGH—ASSET STEM Education™ (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) is partnering with Freeport-McMoRan Foundation to develop elementary and middle school math educators across Grant County, New Mexico’s schools. The three-year program is funded through the Foundation’s Math Professional Development Initiative.

PITTSBURGH—In response to the critical need to prepare students for STEM-related careers, ASSET STEM Education™ (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) recently opened a new round of its STEM Scholarship Program. The national education improvement nonprofit hopes to raise $200,000 to award additional scholarships.

PITTSBURGH—ASSET STEM Education™ (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) is pleased to announce Dr. Erroline Williams as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

Dr. Williams is currently the Training and Project Specialist at Duquesne University. In this role, she develops, coordinates and facilitates training, leadership and professional development programs for University employees.

PITTSBURGH—ASSET STEM Education™ (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) recently launched What does a scientist look like? to empower young people of all backgrounds to see themselves in STEM careers. Until December 1, STEM professionals, enthusiasts, educators, the public and any other individuals are encouraged to submit a photo or drawing of themselves to illustrate how anyone can be a scientist or STEM professional.

PITTSBURGH—ASSET STEM Education™ (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) is pleased to announce Jackie Zyra as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

Ms. Zyra is currently a Talent Management Specilist at ERIKS North America where she is responsible for the design, implementation and communication of talent management activities. Ms. Zyra previously held a variety of human resources roles at Alcoa and was responsible for employee development, workforce planning, employee engagement and change management.

At a time when many experts are concerned that U.S. students are not prepared for a changing economy that relies on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), parents of most children enrolled in afterschool in Pennsylvania report that their child's program offers STEM learning opportunities, according to a household survey commissioned by the Afterschool Alliance.
