PITTSBURGH, December 19, 2018 – ASSET STEM Education (ASSET), a national provider of professional development and hands-on materials in STEM, recently welcomed two new members to the team – Elaine Lucas-Evans and Ellen Pomerantz.


“As ASSET continues to grow in new markets and engage with new educators, we are happy to add Elaine and Ellen to our team to serve our customers, our community and our partners,” said Dr. Cynthia Pulkowski, Executive Director at ASSET. “Elaine and Ellen have strong backgrounds in STEM and are actively involved in the education community. I’m confident that they will be an asset to our organization to impact even more educators and learners through professional development, educational programming and collaborative efforts.”

Elaine Lucas-Evans joins ASSET STEM Education as Professional Development Specialist. In this role, she will design and implement programs to guide educators in a transformation of practice, through professional development training on foundational and module-based activities. Prior to joining ASSET, Lucas-Evans served as Teaching Fellow/Clinical Supervisor at University of Pittsburgh for eight years and as Instructor/Trainer/Curriculum Director at the Carnegie Science Center for 20 years. She has more than 20 years of experience in science/STEM education and program development and design. Lucas-Evans holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education degree in Educational Theatre from New York University, a Master of Education degree and Doctor of Education degree in Instruction and Learning from the University of Pittsburgh.


Ellen Pomerantz joins ASSET STEM Education as Manager – Program Outreach. In this role, she will connect with current and potential customers and partners to advance ASSET’s mission and purpose. Pomerantz brings more than 20 years of experience in business development, education and nonprofit. Most recently, she was Director of Educational Partnerships and Programs at STEM Jobs, where she was responsible for fostering and managing partner relationship with colleges, companies and nonprofits across the country. Pomerantz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Arts Technology from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pa.
