Program Overview
Centered around the driving question, How can I be a catalyst for change to transform mathematics education for my students and myself?, this course challenges educators to develop an authentic, inquiry-based learning experience.
AIMe explores mathematical practices and standards, sample student engagement activites, trends in mathematical profciency, and strategies for student growth.
During the course, participants will disrupt traditional mindsets of math teaching and learning, explore and apply the 5E learning cycle, and create an implementation plan that concretely measures student engagement to increase mathematical understanding.
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS: Middle-grade (5-8) math educators from:
• Canton Area
• Southern Tioga
• Galeton Area
• Wellsboro Area
• Northern Tioga
COMPONENTS:
• 2 days professional learning (12 hrs Act 48)
• One-on-one in-school coaching
• Mathematics engagement toolkit
• 1/2 debrief & reflection (3 hrs Act 48)
